The blog series, launched for National Fitness Day, shares Disabled people’s perspectives on fitness through the Get Yourself Active Sounding Board. Rachel reflects on her journey from being a competitive fell runner to struggling with mental health and inactivity, before finding new ways to stay active through walking and small daily movements. With support from GYA and peers, she reframed fitness as doing what she can with what she has, valuing the social, mental, and physical benefits of even small activities. Her story highlights that for Disabled people, fitness isn’t about performance but about inclusion, adaptability, and wellbeing.
