Changing attitudes to autism through photography

Autistic children and young people from south Wales have created a photography exhibition to try and change negative attitudes.

"But you don't look autistic" includes portraits of a number of neurodivergent adults and children

"It's really annoying because people with autism can do things. And a lot of people who make really good things have autism."

  • Such a great project! I have been reading and thinking a lot about our larger disability community- and someone made the comment that "i felt like I was the only one" at the same time they were also saying "i did everything I could to hide my disability"- and that makes me wonder how often are all of us hiding from ourselves and from each other? I think so many more of us could relate and connect with this disabled experience but we haven't made ourselves known to each other. So projects like this help more and more of us to feel brave and safe to stop let ourselves be seen.
