The National Autistic Society is backing a major new research initiative—Project CECiLiA—that evaluates the effectiveness of Care, Education and Treatment Reviews (C[E]TRs) for autistic individuals and those with learning disabilities. C(E)TRs are intended to improve care by reducing inappropriate psychiatric hospital admissions through individualized, person-centered planning. However, early findings reveal limited evidence of impact. The study aims to gather lived experiences from all stakeholders—self-advocates, families, professionals—and identify practical guidance to enhance inclusion and quality of C(E)TRs. Working with universities such as Birmingham, East Anglia, and Kent, and groups like Learning Disability England, the project is now recruiting participants. It offers a 30-minute online survey or structured interviews, including Talking Mats, to accommodate diverse needs.
