UK Submissions for Inquiry into Accessibility of Public Transport

The Cross Party Transport Select Committee is to investigate how the Government can achieve, and measure the benefits of, better integration between transport services throughout the country.
The inquiry will look at how people can make better and more informed journey choices by positively choosing between, and combining, different forms of transport depending on their needs. MPs will also look at how making services more joined up could be beneficial to those with accessibility needs, older or younger people, and those for whom affordability is a barrier to using transport.
Stephen Brookes, DR UK Transport Policy Adviser said ‘It is vitally important that we respond to this inquiry to ensure that future access to public transport is fit for purpose rather than continuing the current disjointed silo system of bus train and taxi’.
The inquiry will look at options of getting from A to B and whether those options as efficient as they could be. For example, if you have access needs, will a reliable bus service take you to the railway station before the train arrives?
We are encouraging Disabled people to submit written evidence of your experiences using public transport and how it could be improved to be more accessible. Submissions can be made via the Committee website, with a deadline of 16th October.
