Access to work UK scheme

The UK government having announced they want to see more disabled people in employment are doing everything to disabled this firstly, with the cuts to PIP now they want to look at Access to work and are behind on payments. It is outrageous and just makes it harder for them to achieve the goal of more disabled people in work.

  • Oh my gosh! How frustrating to learn about this. I would assume that the increase in Access to Work applications helps reinforce that this is a service the disability community needs- however, the general messaging on cuts or roll backs is disheartening. It seems more of a "check the box" vs real commitment to the disabled people?

In the United States, we are experiencing a lot of messaging on the "decrease in government control" on various federal departments. Many of these department provides services for the disability community. There has been strong messaging to decrease social inclusion efforts related to DEI- and I am concerned that this message is building outside of the US as well. Ah!
