In January 2023, CVS Pharmacy unveiled "one+other", a beauty and personal care brand. Recognizing a significant gap in representation for the disability community in the self-care aisle, CVS Pharmacy introduced the Universal Tools collection, prioritizing inclusive design. In a recent survey conducted by Gauge on behalf of CVS Health®, involving 100 individuals with mobility or dexterity challenges, a striking 62% reported difficulties when using nail clippers and tweezers.

Created through the collaborative efforts of those with lived experiences and members of the disability community, the Universal Tools collection boasts six universally accessible self-care tools, including:

  1. Rounded Tip Scissors ($14.99)
  2. Nail Nipper + Catcher ($16.99)
  3. Slant Tweezer ($9.99)
  4. Half Jaw Cuticle Nipper ($16.99)
  5. Nail Clipper + Catcher ($9.99)
  6. Pumice Stone ($6.49)

These tools incorporate inclusive features such as wide, open handles and non-slip, easy-to-grip silicone patterns with unique textures to differentiate them from other tools. These design elements collectively make self-care more attainable for individuals with specific disabilities.

In alignment with their overarching dedication to accessibility, CVS has not only expanded its CVS Health by Michael Graves Design collection of mobility bath safety and home health care products in April 2022 but also launched its proprietary audible prescription label, Spoken Rx™, in November 2021.
