In the UK the over 60's can have free off peak local travel. At the beginning of January it was suggested this may change to save the government money but would impact on the ability for older people to volunteer and do social activities. There is now a petition to try and block the changes.

No! We need to keep Freedom Pass and other programs to support our seniors! This article reminds me of a program in the United States that we have- America The Beautiful Lifetime Seniors pass. Seniors 62+ can pay $80 one time to have lifetime access to all of the national parks. Both of my parents purchased a pass when they retired and have now made visiting national parks a priority when they travel.
